About Me
Joe Pillari was born in Red Bank, NJ. He received his MFA in Metal at the State University of New York at New Paltz under the mentorship of Myra Mimlitsch-Gray, Lynn Batchelder, and Amelia Toelke. He received his BFA in Crafts with a concentration in Metal at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. His artistic career has focused primarily on the use of enamel and a photographic painting technique he has developed over years of practice. Pillari’s work explores the subtle beauty in the passing of time and the distance of memory. His pieces deal with life’s cherished moments that exist on the cusp of fading away. Joe has exhibited internationally and his work is part of several public collections including the Newark Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and The State Hermitage Museum.
